Online Adult Movies

Online searches of adult sites or online films can lead to offers of free trials of adult material, but these free trials can lead to demands for money if they are not cancelled by users.

No form of ID or debit/credit card details are initially requested so it is not always immediately obvious to subscribers that, if they did not wish to proceed to full membership, they need to actively cancel within the free trial period. Additionally, no reminders are received from the website in question before the end of the trial that any action is needed, to prevent a demand for a substantial payment.

If the trial period is not cancelled pop up windows began to appear on their computer screen requesting payment for a subscription to the site(s) or an invoice is sent to the PC owner. Companies sometimes use the trial visit as an opportunity to install software which they have made deliberately difficult to uninstall and that can also hinder the use of the computer.

These points are set out the company’s terms and conditions.  This business model is justified by the claim that the company is providing anonymity to the user of pornographic material.

Consumers are advised to check terms and conditions very carefully when signing up to any services over the internet. Remember, there is usually no such thing as a ‘free lunch’ – if there is a free ‘offer’ there will usually be a pricey sting in the tail in the form of an expensive and potentially lengthy subscription period!
